It was at the tender age of 6 that veterinarian Dr Susan van Niekerk realised she wanted to be a vet. She was helping her aunt with a Persian cat that was in labour and “I was suddenly desperate to participate. I just really, really wanted to do this for the rest of my life. I’ve always loved animals and I also enjoy working with them too.”
At home Dr Susan has five dogs of her own, three Bouviers, a rescue called Skapie and an old lady Husky/Maltese cross called Luni.
At EberVet Pet Clinic, Dr Susan enjoys the welfare work most of all because “because with a little bit of money you can really make a huge difference in animals’ lives”
