GAWS Wraps Up 2025 Sterilisation Drive!

Nov 18, 2025 | COMMUNITY VETERINARY CARE

We are thrilled to announce that the final Greyton Animal Welfare Society (GAWS) sterilisation day for 2025 was a huge success, marking a major milestone in our commitment to animal welfare!

Year-End Success

Thanks to the incredible dedication of our team, we reached a phenomenal total of 259 sterilisations for 2025! The animals received safe and professional care:

  • Dogs arrived in their cages, ready to be sedated for their operations.
  • Rene and Eileen skillfully handled the anesthetic, ensuring every patient felt absolutely no pain or discomfort during the procedure.
  • Every dog was also deflead and dewormed before being happily taken home.
  • We’d like to specifically thank the EberVet Pet Clinic for their massive contribution, which accounted for 44% of the year’s total!

Heartfelt Thanks to Our Community

This day would not have been possible without our dedicated volunteers and board members:

  • Regina from FANS masterfully managed all the important administration.
  • Nicky, a valued GAWS member, made sure all our post-operative patients were comfortable before their discharge.
  • The essential Recovery Station was entirely attended by fantastic volunteers from the Greyton Community.
  • We were also proud to have Board Member Leon take time out to provide important education to the learners of the local schools.

Looking Ahead to 2026

While we pause for the new year, the work never stops! We are already planning and have 4 sterilisation dates (BANS) already in our calendar for 2026.

Thank you to everyone who supported us this year! Every donation and every hour volunteered makes a tangible difference in the lives of these animals.
