Pitbulls are a highly controversial breed because so many have been bred for fighting but we believe that it is human intervention that has turned many of these animals vicious which sadly has now led to widespread calls for their euthanasia.
We believe the better way to go is through sterilisation. By sterilising the dogs, they can’t get pregnant thus stemming the tide of breeding for fighting. So, on 30 March our Community Veterinary Care team will sterilise 65 of these dogs – male and female – in Sir Lowry’s Pass Village.

We have teamed up with Colleen Pienaar who works closely with pet owners in this community and she will ensure the animals are brought to our pop-up clinic on the day. We’ll have several vets working shifts, nurses to man the anaesthetic and post-op stations and volunteers to manage post-op care. The dogs will be collected by Colleen’s team and returned home once they’ve recovered from anaesthetic.
In addition, the EberVet team has been eagerly collecting a host of generously donated items – from medicines to food, food bowls to collars, toys to treats and so much more. Every sterilised dog will go home with his or own bag of goodies.

Our grateful thanks to our brilliant sponsors Montego, Sentra, Daro, Animal Love, Pet Brands, UltraDog, and the many clients who have put their hands deep into their pockets to help us fund this day.
