IS YOUR DOG DOWN IN MOUTH?
Dogs that appear tired, listless, bored and sad may in fact be suffering depression, says John Ciribassi, past president of the American Veterinary society of Animal Behaviour.
Dog depression symptoms are very similar to those in people.

How to recognise depression in dogs
- Your dog may become withdrawn
- He/ she may become inactive
- Their eating and sleeping habits often change
- They don’t participate in the things they once enjoyed like walks or games
However, not all dogs who display these symptoms are depressed. In fact, they can also be indicators of illness or pain so the first course of action should always be a full check-up by your vet. A pet that mopes around and no longer wants to go for walks could for example be suffering pain from arthritis.
If your dog has the Monday blues every day of the week, a visit to the vet should be top of your list of to-dos.
