Pitbull clinic makes news headlines

EberVet Community Veterinary Care’s recent Pitbull sterilisation clinic in Sir Lowry’s Pass attracted significant media attention with its message that communities are not only healthier but also safer when the breed is sterilised.

Five veterinarians, veterinary nurses, animal welfare organisations and an army of volunteers worked together to sterilise as many Pitbulls as could be encouraged to the outreach clinic. Despite initial opposition from dog owners – many of whom make money from breeding and fighting the dogs – more than 48 Pitbulls, Rottweilers and Boerboels were spayed and neutered.
