A treat for your dog that’s easy-to-make and healthy

Pumpkin is nutrient rich and a great source of dietary fibre which will help keep your dog’s digestive system regular. It also helps with weight loss because the fibre and water in the pumpkin help to keep them fuller for longer.

Add nuggets of pumpkin to your dog’s regular meal or cook up these delicious treats drizzled with bacon and peanut butter glaze to delight your pooch’s tastebuds!


1 cup pumpkin
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 eggs
1/4 cup oil
2 1/2 cups wholewheat flour
1 tsp baking soda

For the glaze

2 T bacon grease, coconut oil, chicken fat or any other fat that will solidify at room temperature, melted
1/4 cup smooth peanut butter


1. Preheat oven to 176C.
2. Mix pumpkin, peanut butter, eggs and oil in a bowl. Add in the baking soda and flour, and stir until a stiff dough forms. Knead dough until all flour is mixed in.
3. Roll dough out and use a cookie cutter to cut out dog bone shapes. Bake for 15 minutes.
4. Whisk bacon grease and peanut butter until very smooth. Drizzle over the treats and cool till glaze hardens, preferably in the fridge.
